    The researchers studied the case of nine adults are obese or overweight and wore down devices to measure pressure and blood sugar level during normal work day, which lasts 8 hours, and spend mostly sitting.

    It turns out that the participants have become accustomed to stand for intermittent periods ranging between 10 and 30 minutes, including an overall two and a half hours a day.

    The following week, participants used a device for walking for the same period instead of sitting. In the fourth week they spent their time riding a bicycle.

    The researchers revealed in a report published in the journal " Medicine and Science in Sports and exercise" that the average glucose over 24 hours was less when standing and walking, compared to the rate of sitting through long periods, and was the slowest pace when riding a bike.
